Books for Sheer Joy and a Touch of Mind Expansion

Zorba the Greek – by Nikos Kazantzakis

My all-time favorite fiction book. An example of a man living in pure joy…to hell with what everyone else thinks! Click for a description or to purchase:

Big Sur and the Oranges of Hieronymus Bosch – by Henry V. Miller

If you have a penchant for philosophy and the free spirited lifestyle, this is the book! It was my favorite before I found Zorba. Click the book for a description or to order:

Books for Practice

The Joy of Living: Unlocking the Secret and Science of Happiness – By Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche

Cutting Through Fear – by Tsultrim Allione

Renowned teacher, Tsultrim Allione, gives us an adaptation of the ancient Tibetan practice of Chod, and helps us to face, and work through our fears, addictions, and obsessions. Click the photo below for more information or to purchase:

Travel Gear

Katadyn Pocket Water Filter

Ok, it’s pricey. But if you’re planning on doing a lot of traveling – or even just camping – over the next 20 years, this baby is the way to go. A) it’s metal, not plastic – this will be with you for the long haul. B) It has a 20 year warranty, C) I used it to drink from the Ganges River and I didn’t get sick. Can you think of a better test? Eno Hammock

Whether you’re planning to backpack Latin America or just want to chill out at home, this hammock rocks! It’s undoubtably my favorite possession. You can fit 2 people in, string it anywhere (esp. with the Eno Slapstraps), add a mosquito net, AND it’s super small and light-weight. Click the photo for description or to purchase:

Eno Slap Strap Hammock Suspension System

These straps make it super easy to hang your Eno hammock from any tree or pole. No fancy knots needed. Click the photo for description or to purchase:
